About Dennis Kunkel, Ph.D.

Dennis Kunkel Ph.D. is an award-winning photomicrographer whose images appear worldwide in print, film, and electronic media. Dennis received technical training in specialized microscopies while earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Washington in Seattle. In the course of his studies, and during the research career that followed, Dennis's skill as a microscopist allowed him to make significant contributions in the fields of botany, microbiology and neurobiology. Collaborative efforts with fellow researchers produced results in other disciplines of science (including zoology, microbiology, medicine and materials science). Fifty-nine research papers authored or co-authored by Dennis appear in scientific journals between 1980 and 2016.

Dennis Kunkel, Ph.D., formerly of the University of Hawai'i, Honolulu (1993-2000) and previously of the University of Washington, Seattle (1976-1993); established Dennis Kunkel Microscopy, Inc. in 2000.

Dennis Kunkel, Ph, D. has sold his scientific stock photography collection to Science Photo Library Ltd. (United Kingdom) as of November 10, 2016. Since 2000 he has enjoyed licensing his microscopy images directly to his valued clients. Images were licensed to over 1800 companies in the U.S. as well as clients in 38 countries.
